It’s Different for Me Here

"It's different for me here."
That's what Brianna said about our weekly Club meetings.

She told me that she was struggling with depression due to bullying at school. She told me that she gets picked on a lot because she's shy and frequently struggles with social awkwardness. I pointed out that I had never seen her act like that at Club, and she said "It's different for me here. I know that these people are nice and care about me."

Brianna is one of the sweetest, most caring kids I know, and if you came to Club, you would never think she was socially awkward or shy. She asks questions and shares her thoughts during discussion times just as much, sometimes more, as other kids. At our Gladstone Club, we have done everything we can to create an environment where kids feel safe to be themselves. Brianna's statement is a great indicator that we are on the right course.

This reminds me of John 13:35 "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” It is our mission to reach young people everywhere. "Reach" is the key word. We extend our hearts to students to help them understand the love Christ has for them. At YFC, we make it our goal to reflect God's love, making students feel safe and secure so that they can encounter Jesus in a very real way. We reach the students, regardless of where they are or where they've come from, and through the relationships that we build, they meet Jesus and lives are changed. Brianna is just one of many examples of students whose hearts and lives are being changed by this amazing ministry.
